TRANSISTOR AMPLIFIER 2-STAGE




The circuit below is a 2-stage transistor amplifier. This circuit will provide high quality audio and is easy to build. There are no special requirements except use the exact resistor values so the transistors will be properly biased for lowest distortion. The input and output capacitors can be any value from 10mfd to 100 mfd. Use capacitors rated at least 50VDC. Also, make sure you use a power supply in the 30VDC to 35VDC range or the transistor will not be properly biased. This design operating voltage should provide plenty of headroom to allow operation of output levels up to 0db and be better than 20db below clipping. The gain is about 40db depending on input and output loading. Do not add a capacitor across the 680 ohm emitter resistors. You might get more gain but you will spoil the natural negative feedback of the design and distortion will increase.
R1 and the 1000MFD capacitor provides extra filtering for the low level input stage.
